Frenkie de Jong was filmed arriving at Barcelona airport with only a few days left in the transfer window.
The Dutchman has been at the center of much speculation this summer, with Barcelona open to selling the midfielder to raise money to renew Xavi Hernandez’s squad amid serious financial difficulties for the club.
Manchester United have been chasing the midfielder for much of the summer, with Erik ten Hag, ex-boss of the former Ajax midfielder, remaining an admirer of the player from their days together in Amsterdam.

Chelsea, on the hunt for a midfielder as Thomas Tuchel looks to rebuild his squad under new owners led by Todd Boehly, have also shown keen interest in the player this window.
Filmed with De Jong by Spanish football talk show late at night El Chiringuito arriving at the airport for a flight to London just days before the end of the window, there has been speculation that the midfielder could finally join a Premier League squad.
Say, however, that this is him flying to United to secure his transfer to United after a drawn-out summer saga has been shattered, with the club saying they will not sign him this summer.

Following the arrival of Antony and Martin Dubravka, United are expected to complete their operations by this summer.
De Jong’s Holland and Barcelona team-mate Memphis Depay is also in the UK with Xavi’s squad having a few days off after a great start to their La Liga campaign.
The two are believed to be in the UK for a wedding.
De Jong and Depay were both substitutes in Sunday evening’s 4-0 win over Real Valladolid at Camp Nou.
