From Kylie Kit to neat finisher – we test three new, long-lasting liquid lipsticks
With the festive season already in full swing, one non-negotiable for me this time of year is a lipstick that won’t budge, so I put three new long-lasting liquid lipsticks to the test. . .
Budget
L’Oréal Paris Matte Resistance Lipstick, £11.99 for 5g, superdrug.com –
Let’s start with the positives.
I love the teardrop applicator because it allows you to really line the edges of your lips for a neat finish without the need for a lip liner.
I also really like the color, as one swipe was enough, but I noticed that the color started to crack after a few hours, and you have to remove it completely before reapplying it, otherwise it looks congealed and cakey.
It’s a great lipstick to wear for a few hours, but not ideal for longer periods of time.
Middle class
Kylie Cosmetics Plumping Powder Matte Liquid Lipstick, £21 for 3ml, lookfantastic.com – Kylie Jenner Cosmetics range put liquid lipsticks on the map in 2015 with the launch of Kylie Lip Kits, so I was expecting great things.
It combines the tingling feeling of a plumping lip gloss and the lasting power of a matte lipstick, something completely new for me.
The combination left my lips feeling dry at the end of the day, but I didn’t need to touch up once and I even ate pizza for lunch.
So if you want something that’s low maintenance (and can handle the tingles), this is the way to go.
Luxury
Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte Liquid Lip, £36 for 6ml, boots.com – This undoubtedly looks the best, with a metallic gold tube that exudes luxury.
Despite the premium price tag, I found the staying power to be the worst of the three – and that was long gone by the advertised eight-hour wear.
It didn’t leave a mark on my glass and was most comfortable thanks to the combination of vitamin E, castor oil and hyaluronic acid, which keeps it from drying out, so you’ll have to weigh what’s most important to you.
