Furious Gold Coast surfer Cary Gilbert calls out surfer who landed on wife Bebe’s head, causing horrific gash

An angry surfer demands that the man who horribly injured his wife while she was surfing come forward.

Cary Gilbert said the shocking incident happened around 8.15am on Thursday at the popular surf spot of Currumbin Alley on Queensland’s Gold Coast, an area notorious for wild waves and collisions.

Mr Gilbert said his wife, Bebe, has more than 25 years of surfing experience and is enthusiastic and skilled.

He shared shocking images of a deep cut to his wife’s head in a Facebook group on the southern Gold Coast.

“I am looking for the surfer (man) who landed on my wife’s head and didn’t even get out of the water to help her with a bad head wound,” he wrote.

“My wife clearly communicated to him verbally that she was not well and that she had to go inside.”

Mr Gilbert added: ‘It looks like he just went paddling again to have some more fun and probably had a few horrible waves while she is recovering at home with nine stitches to her head and missing the action.’

He urged the perpetrator, or someone who knows him, to come forward.

“If this concerns you or your partner, please contact us!” he wrote.

He wrote that it’s never too late to contact the person you ended up with and apologize for not realizing it.

“We don’t need compensation. My wife is fine. She has no fracture, no concussion, no headaches, and somehow hardly any pain. She took a week off work to recover.”

He concluded his message with: ‘A recognition to help her with her emotional process, find some closure and get back out there safe and sound within our surfing community as soon as possible. That’s what she’s looking for.’

Comments on Mr Gilbert’s Facebook post revealed his anger.

“This is so disgusting, horrible behavior to leave her in the water like that. Has anyone helped her? I hope he shows up,” one Facebook user wrote.

“That is horrible behavior. Really sad for your wife and I hope she heals well,” wrote another.

“God mate. We wish her a speedy recovery. It looks like it, some people just don’t care.”
