Furr-SIJS ACTION! Corgis go against each other in a campaigning race that is held to celebrate dog breed loved by Queen Elizabeth II

Overlooked as a potential champion, she was the underdog in every possible sense.

But for Juno, the winner of the Musselburgh Race Course Corgi Derby, the roar of the crowd and the inspiring presence of Judy Murray, the mother of double Wimbledon champion Andy MurrayIt turned out to be decisive.

All the talk before the event in the Musselburgh Race Course in East Lothian, Scotland, was Van Rodney, the champion of two years ago.

And until the climatic moments of the 70-meter race, predictions of a second victory for Rodney seemed justified.

But when the former winner accused the line, his progress was impeded by the wild daisy, allowing Juno to slip on the inside.

In Corgi Racing’s dog’s hunt, it was proof of the merits of Focus, determination and not jumping on the back of a rival competition.

“This is her second race, so she already has that from her system, so she had her eyes on the price,” Rodney’s proud owner Alisdair Tew told ITV Racing.

“Usually she is a bit of a Goober, but she has the blood of a champion in her, I think.”

Rodney, whose fourth birthday is approaching, then posed with Murray, Tew and co -owner Fran Brandon.

She received a trophy and a bag of treats for her problems – BU would there be a special victory meal?

“I think so,” said Alisdair. “We like to keep her on a strict diet from Falafel and brandy, so she will probably just get more of the same.”

The Corgi Derby was first held in 2022 on the occasion of the Platina jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, whose love for the race was known.
