- Garmin apparently plans to drop new guided training courses for his Garmin Coach Service
- According to the leak, swimming and walking are the two disciplines aimed at
- Coach Swim probably has open water -oriented lessons, while coach Walking is said to offer ‘natural exposure’ and stress management
According to Leks, new training courses aimed at swimming and walking will be added to a part of the Best Garmin watches.
Garmin Coach Swim, as referred by Leksite The5Krunneris apparently set to complete Garmin’s new triathlon coaching service and will focus on building good technology (using tools such as buoys to ‘refine’ the shape and concentrate on the kick -efficiency), endurance and endurance, intensity, recovery and racing preparations.
Some classes would concentrate on open-water swimming, making them particularly useful for triathletes. Swimming of open water is also becoming increasingly popular with non-triathletes, because wild-swimming participants use the activity as an opportunity to make contact with nature. There is a chance for Garmin to serve wild swimmers to gently improve, as well as the multidiscipline athletes that are the typical target group of Garmin.
Garmin coach Walking, as the other set of classes is referred, is said to offer a more holistic approach to fitness. Although endurance and fitness classes are called, probably a variety of interval-style sessions and running lengths, the leaks describe a greater emphasis on recovery and well-being, mindfulness and stress management.
‘Consciousness’ and ‘Nature Exposure’ are mentioned as aspects of some of these walking classes. Just like open water swimming, walking in nature (whether it is a local park or a picturesque walk), allows participants to disconnect from screens and to make contact with the natural world again, with proven stress management benefits.
It is not yet known which watches will support these classes, or when they can be expected to land on the Garmin Connect app.
The benefits of ‘natural exposure’
A 2021 Study of Harvard ‘Found evidence for associations between exposure to nature and improved cognitive function, brain activity, blood pressure, mental health, physical activity and sleep’ with positive connections spent between time in the natural world, and both mental and physical health.
But you don’t need that to tell that: advice about lowering blood pressure and stimulating mood by spending time in sunlight and near trees has been around for decades. Enabling people to take advantage of the green spaces in the vicinity of guided training sessions in the guard is a new way for Garmin to improve the health and mood of users.
These classes will find their niches, but will not be for everyone. Open water swimming are not accessible to everyone, but triathletes and sharp wild swimmers will certainly benefit from special Garmin coach classes. Walking training is much more accessible, but may be too calm for sharp runners and cyclists, who are probably preferable to nature with the help of their more intense chosen disciplines.
