‘Get 2 for that price’, shoppers shout as garden items at Tesco are reduced to £7.45
IF you want to spruce up your garden without spending too much money, then Tesco is the place to go.
Especially if you want to renew your garden furniture or purchase new pieces.
Mom Jessica was thrilled to see a huge selection of discounted items at her local supermarket this week.
The savvy shopper was so happy with her summer finds that she took to social media to let others know.
Post message on Extreme Couponing and Bargains UKa closed Facebook group with 2.5 million members, she shared pictures of the discounted items.
She said: “There’s a lot of garden furniture on sale at Tesco!”
A four piece folding furniture set has been reduced from £200 to £89.50.
An American Grill Charcoal BBQ will now cost you just £72 instead of £139.
A handy extendable wall-mounted gazebo will now set you back just £60, while a cream garden bench and table set is now on sale for £129 instead of £290 – saving you a whopping £161.
Jessica also spotted a 3m children’s pool that had been reduced from £115 to £51.75. There were also plastic chairs on offer for £18.50 and sun loungers for £21.
If you’re looking for a pop of colour, there are also lovely two-seater bistro sets available for £29, in pink or teal.
But the biggest bargains, which will give your garden an instant boost, are the outdoor rugs.
Originally it cost £15, but now it’s just £7.45, saving you £7.55.
There are two styles available, depending on your taste: a monochrome Aztec print or a colorful striped version with orange, yellow, pink and white.
It is therefore no surprise that consumers are flocking to their local Tesco to get their hands on one.
“Outdoor rugs look good,” someone cheered.
Someone else pleaded, “For that price I’ll take two, hee hee.”
A third said: “I want a rug.”
“The carpets are fine,” agreed a fourth.
A fifth begged a loved one: “Go to Tesco after work and see if it’s true.”
Meanwhile, a sixth wrote: “Maybe we should check with our local store to see if you can get a rug.”
Others joked that the sales were a sign that the British summer was already over.
One of them joked, “When they realized summer wasn’t coming.”
Someone else joined in the conversation: “Because summer is over before it even started!”
What can I get with Tesco Clubcard?
TESCO’s Clubcard programme allows customers to earn points while they shop.
You can then exchange these points for discount vouchers for food at the supermarket or for discounts in other places, such as restaurants and days out.
Every time you spend £1 in store or online you get one point when you scan your Clubcard.
Drivers who use the customer card receive one point for every two liters of fuel they spend.
One point is equal to 1p, so for example, 150 points would get you a £1.50 discount voucher.
You can double their value if you exchange them for discounts at ‘reward partners’.
For example, you can redeem £12 in vouchers for a three-month Disney+ subscription worth £24.
Or you can exchange 50p in points for £1 to spend at Hungry Horse pubs.
Where you can spend them changes regularly. You can check what’s currently available on the Tesco website.
Tesco customers can also take advantage of Clubcard prices if they have a loyalty card.
The discounted items change regularly and without a Clubcard you will pay a higher price.
These Clubcard prices are usually listed on the shelves, along with the price for non-members.
But it is important to know that it is not necessarily the cheapest offer, even if there is a discount. Compare prices to find the best deal.
You can sign up for a Tesco Clubcard in-store or online via the Tesco website.
And a third added: “Yes, even Tesco has given up on summer.”
The sale comes just days after the Met Office issued flood warnings.
Three warnings were issued on Monday after the British were hit by thunderstorms, which according to St Swithin’s Day folklore was a bad omen.
In parts of the country, July’s average rainfall has already been far exceeded, despite the month only being half over.
According to the Met Office spokesman, England received 97% of its average July rainfall between July 1 and 15, Wales received 65%, Scotland received 49% and Northern Ireland received 47%.
London has already reached 154% of the July average and Dorset 120%.
Edinburgh had only 40% and Dundee 33%.
Ms Maxey said: “There are quite big regional differences, but overall it looks like it’s going to be a wet month so far.”
