‘Get BJP ticket’: AAP MLA asks Swati Maliwal to resign from Rajya Sabha over Atishi remarks | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: As Rajya Sabha MP from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Swati Maliwal criticized the party’s decision to Atishi As the new Chief Minister of Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal, the party representative demanded her resignation, accusing her of working on the agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
On Tuesday, Maliwal called Kalkaji MLA Atishi a “dummy CM” and termed it a “sad day” for the national capital. She also openly criticised the AAP supremo for appointing as Delhi CM someone whose parents had sought mercy for terrorist Afzal Guru and said, “May God protect Delhi.”
“Today is a very sad day for Delhi. Today a woman is being appointed CM of Delhi whose family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from hanging. Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the honourable President to save terrorist Afzal Guru. According to them, Afzal Guru was innocent and was being framed as part of a political conspiracy.” She added, “Though Atishi Marlena is just a ‘Dummy CM’, yet this issue is related to the security of the country. May God protect Delhi!,” Maliwal said in a post on X.

Soon, senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey reacted to Maliwal’s statement and accused her of following the BJP’s agenda and even demanded her resignation from the upper house of Parliament.
“Understand one thing. Swati Maliwal is someone who takes the ticket to Rajya Sabha from AAP but the script to respond is from BJP. If she has even an iota of shame, she should resign as Rajya Sabha MP and choose the path to Rajya Sabha on a BJP ticket. If she wants to be in Rajya Sabha, she should get a ticket from BJP,” Pandey said.

Relations between Swati Maliwal and AAP soured after the former alleged that she was assaulted by Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar at the CM’s house.
However, Kumar was granted bail by the Supreme Court earlier this month. The high court noted that Kumar had been in custody for 100 days and that a chargesheet had already been filed in the case. The court also directed that Bibhav Kumar should not be reinstated as a personal assistant or given any official assignment in the CM’s office.
