‘Give books, not bouquets’: Hemant Soren’s unique appeal after landslide victory in Jharkhand polls | India News – Times of India
Soren took to social media platform Just like in 2019, I would like to ask everyone again, if you come to meet me, to give me a ‘book’ instead of a ‘bouquet’.
He added, “While I was in prison, I was given a lot of time to read the books that you all gifted me. I want to thank everyone for this.’
The JMM-led alliance secured a second consecutive term in Jharkhand, winning 56 of the 81 seats in the assembly.
The JMM itself won 34 seats, while its allies, the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), won 16 and four seats respectively.
The BJP-led NDA struggled to gain traction, winning only 24 seats. The BJP bagged 21, while its allies – All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Janata Dal (United) – won one seat each.
Soren will take oath as chief minister of Jharkhand on November 28 and will serve in his capacity until then.
