God of War developer Santa Monica Studio is working on a new IP
A developer from Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that the studio is currently working on new intellectual property.
As noted by a ResetEra user, God of war Developer Glauco Longhi recently revealed on LinkedIn that he is working as a supervisor at the Sony studio, developing characters for a “new IP.”
“Santa Monica Studios offered me the opportunity to come back as a Character Supervisor, responsible for the entire Character Development pipeline for their new IP. So here I am, thrilled to be back, working with the crew again and developing characters in video games together,” the full post reads.
According to Longhi’s “about” section on his LinkedIn profile, he worked as a senior character artist on Naughty Dog’s Unknown 4as well as at Santa Monica Studios 2016 God of war.
The developer also worked as lead character artist on God of War Ragnarokwhich was launched in 2022 but later left the studio to work on The Calisto Protocol as character and art director at Striking Distance Studios.
He returned to Santa Monica Studio earlier this year after serving as art director at the Underwater ship developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment.
At this time, we don’t have any information about this “new IP” yet, but there are rumors that the studio may be looking to produce a space-themed game, following cryptic messages from Santa Monica Studio’s creative director Cory Barlog back in 2019.
Although it has not yet been announced, there is a third God of war game is also a possibility. Next Ragnarok‘s launch, the Santa Monica continued to release the free Walhalla downloadable content (DLC), an expansive epilogue roguelike set after the events of the sequel.
