Gold Coast woman’s wild parking act sparks outrage after footage emerged of her shocking behavior: ‘No one has exclusive rights’
A woman has angered motorists by booking a prime parking spot on a popular beach by standing in the empty space.
The woman was filmed as she stood in the empty car park at Burleigh Hill, on the Gold Coast, waiting for a friend to arrive.
A silver SUV attempted to enter the park but was waved goodbye by the woman shortly before she stepped aside so her friend could take up space in a Hyundai i30.
Footage of the incident was shared on Facebook, where commentators decried the trick in an area where it was difficult to find parking.
“There’s no way I wouldn’t have driven in if I saw that I would have taken that park even if I didn’t need it,” one person wrote.
“No one has the exclusive right to a public parking lot or can get away with it.”
Other social media users said they would have pressured the pedestrian to leave the space and take over the park if he were in the same situation.
“I’d just drive in, she’ll move out eventually, I’ll be patient,” one person wrote.

‘I have a dashcam, so that would give a good picture.’
“The person will move when you drive up to them,” a third added.
However, some said this was not necessarily true.
“They’re not moving, I was half in the park and the man in front of me wouldn’t move even with the threat of hitting him,” one person wrote.
“It’s not Australian to do what this burglary is doing,” said another.
Although there are no specific traffic laws that prohibit this act, pedestrians should not create a traffic hazard by obstructing a driver’s path.
Anyone violating this law faces a $154 fine.
