‘Goodison is a magical stadium with a deep heritage and close ties with the local community. Leading the team for that first home game of next season will be nothing less than a career height -and the prospect of what Everton women can become with such an iconic site to name our house is extremely exciting. ‘

Angus Kinnear, CEO of Everton, added: ‘We know how cherished Goodison is, not only for every Evertonian, but for the game itself, and being able to keep such an iconic stadium in the heart of the Legacy project, is something that has been incredibly important to us.

‘From next season we are proud to say that our women will have an unparalleled permanent house in the WSL – a different declaration of intent if we try to build the basics that will help us challenge trophies.

‘The women’s game has grown considerably in recent years and we believe that growth will continue and accelerate. We have no illusions; There are obstacles that we have to overcome to make this a success both practically and economically, but we are convinced that we will overcome those challenges.

‘The value of investing in the women’s game has been demonstrated by our ownership group on AS Roma, with impressive results on the field. We believe that Everton women can emulate that success and go even further, with one of the most respected grounds in the history of the game as their permanent home. ‘
