Google Chrome brings 5 ​​new features to Android and iOS for better search

Google Chrome has announced five new features coming to Android and iOS platforms that are intended to provide a better search experience on smartphones and tablets. The web browser has been rolling out a slew of new features lately, with Listen to this page and Minimized custom tabs being some of the recent additions. Now, it’s bringing more Chrome actions for searches, a redesigned search bar for select devices, new shortcut suggestions, and more.

New features in Google Chrome

In a blog afterGoogle introduced five new features for Android and iOS devices. It brings more Chrome Actions for local searches. When searching for queries related to local businesses, such as looking up a restaurant, users will now get three new options: Call, Directions, and Reviews. Google says this feature is already live on Android and will roll out to iOS later this year.

The address bar on tablets has also been redesigned in line with Google’s Material You design language. When performing searches, the website will still be visible to the user in a new dropdown menu. The shortcut suggestions are also said to have been improved with the user’s typing habits in mind. Google says it will now help them navigate to a website based on what they normally search for to get there.

Google also brought Trending Searches to iOS, a feature that has been available on Android devices since 2023. Users can now simply tap on an empty address bar to see trending searches appear. Selecting a trending search will reveal other searches related to that topic.

It’s also introducing live sports cards to the Discover feed. This feature will allow users to get automatic updates and stay up to date on how their favorite sports teams are doing if they’ve searched for them in the past. Google says this feature can also be customized by navigating to the three-dot menu.
