Google is OUT OF THE WAY: Search engine, YouTube and other services hit by outage
Google is experiencing an outage that is making its search engine, YouTube and other popular services unavailable.
According to DownDetector, the issues started around 9:00 a.m. ET and are affecting users in the US, UK, and parts of Europe, Asia, and South America.
The site, which monitors online issues, also reported outages with the website, search function and Google Drive.

DownDetector’s trouble map shows a large spike in trouble reports in Los Angeles and New York City, along with Boston and Chicago.
However, users in the UK are experiencing the most impact from the outage, with over 11,000 reports sent to DownDetector.
In the US, 57 percent of the problem is due to search, 32 percent to the website, and 11 percent cite Google Drive.
DownDetector’s trouble map shows what problems exist in Los Angeles and New York City, as well as Boston and Chicago.
However, users in the UK are experiencing the most impact from the outage, with over 11,000 reports sent to DownDetector.
Users are flocking to X to vent their frustrations about Google’s problems and to see if others are experiencing the same issues.
X user Barry Bureau posted: ‘The terrifying thing about Google being down for 20 minutes is that the entire human race had to rely on its own knowledge for those 20 minutes. It’s incredible that we survived.’
Google Meets is also experiencing issues, with users seeing a blank screen with the text, “You are offline. Go back online to use Google Meet.”
Another Google user reported on DownDetector that the Chrome PC app was not working properly.
