Google Photos has been updated with a small but noticeable change to tabs and tiles in the mobile app on iOS and Android smartphones. The position of the locked folder has been changed in the app, which should make it more accessible to users. Google has made it easier for users to access the locked folder, which was buried deep within other tabs and subsections before the latest update. Access to a few other folders and tabs has also been tweaked to accommodate the change on the Android and iOS versions of the app.
Google Photos updates the location of the locked folder
The Locked folder in Google Photos is now directly accessible from the Library tab. It is listed next to Favorites, ArchiveAnd Waste to provide easier access. This folder is visible where the Utilities folder that is displayed.
It is striking that earlier the Locked folder would by the Utilities folder. It would require multiple clicks to access and offered significantly more privacy, making the existence of such a folder less noticeable.
This reorganization is rolling out to several users with the latest versions of the app for Android and iOS, and was initially spotted by 9to5Google. However, it has not yet been enabled on Gadgets 360 employees’ smartphones at the time of publication.
Other Google Photos options are being reorganized
The Google Photos update that changed the position of the locked folder also moved a few other options within the app, the publication said. Most of the sections and features previously stored in the Utilities folder can now be accessed via the plus button on the top bar.
