Google Photos will soon offer users the ability to share weekly highlights with others
Google Photos – the default media manager on most Android devices – may be developing a new feature called “My Week,” according to a report. The feature will allow users to share their weekly highlights with other family members or friends by sending them invites, similar to a photo diary. It was reported following an APK teardown of the Google Photos app and is not yet available to the public.
My Week Feature on Google Photos
In a reportAndroid Authority, in collaboration with tipster AssembleDebug, revealed that the feature could be in development. It was reported following an APK teardown of the Google Photos app version 6.90, as the ‘My Week’ feature is not yet live. A new tile would appear in the Memories app carousel – ‘Introduction to my week’.
As seen in leaked screenshots above, the tech giant describes the feature as “a weekly photo diary for you and a few special people you choose”.
Tapping on the screen will reportedly open a setup wizard where users can choose the photos they want to share as part of their weekly highlights and invite people they want. Once the invite is accepted, the recipient will reportedly see the weekly reminders in the photos tab. According to the report, they can then choose to like the photo and even comment on it.
Since this is reportedly an invite-only feature, the invited people may be the only ones who can see the shared memories. In addition to ‘My Week’, the 6.90 version of the app is also expected to include several changes to the user interface (UI). Places It appears that there is a map at the top of the section, while when opening the photo details it can now be seen whether the photo is part of a memory or an album.
