Google Pixel 10 series codenames suggest four models will launch next year
The Google Pixel 9 series launched last month, and the rumor mill for its successor – the Pixel 10 series – is already in full swing. The codenames for the alleged Pixel 10 smartphones have leaked. The Pixel 10 is said to be codenamed “Frankel,” while similar names have been given to other alleged devices in the upcoming series. The leak suggests the launch of four alleged models next year, continuing the trend of the Pixel 9 lineup.
Google Pixel 10 series codenames leaked
According to an Android Headlines reportThe Google Pixel 10 series will include four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. They have been codenamed Frankel, Blazer, Mustang, and Rango respectively. The report effectively suggests that Google could launch another foldable smartphone next year.
This development builds on previous leaks that revealed the codename of the Google Pixel 9a – the company’s only smartphone scheduled to debut before the Pixel 10 series next year. The Pixel 9a is expected to launch in May next year and could be codenamed “Tegu.” Like before, it will join the Pixel 9 series as the company’s latest smartphone lineup.
However, Google may change things next year and offer an older chipset for the affordable Pixel 9a.
Google Pixel 10 chipset
Codenames aside, a previous report suggested that Google may have finalized the design process for the Tensor G5 chipset that will power the Pixel 10 series. Speculation is that it has reached the “tape out” phase, which essentially means the Mountain View-based tech giant can now produce it in a foundry and thoroughly test it.
Unlike the previous four generations which were based on Samsung’s Exynos chip, the Tensor G5 is said to be developed entirely in-house. It is planned to be manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 3nm (N3E) node, further simplifying the original N3B process.
