Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold announced, officially available in India next month
Google’s hardware event is scheduled for August 13. About a month ahead of the “Made By Google” event, the tech giant has dropped a new teaser video for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, putting an end to speculations about the design and name of its next foldable Android phone. The teaser suggests an off-white color option for the foldable phone. It appears to feature a dual-camera design on the back. Notably, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will also be making its debut in the Indian market. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to come with upgrades over last year’s Pixel Fold.
Shortly after the unveiling of the Pixel 9 Pro, Google boasted of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in a teaser video that confirms its design and name. The handset is shown with the tagline “foldable phone built for the Gemini era” and we can see an AI chatbot in the video. The foldable phone appears to have a prominent rectangular camera bump, with lenses arranged vertically in a dual-tiered design.
The teaser video shows off the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s external display and hinge mechanism. The cover display has a hole-punch cutout. It’s shown in an off-white finish that resembles Google’s signature Porcelain hue, and we can expect to see more vibrant colors when it goes official.
Additionally, Google has confirmed that it will be bringing the Pixel 9 Pro Fold to the Indian market. Its predecessor, the Google Pixel Fold, was not launched in the country. The book-style foldable will launch alongside the Pixel 9 Pro in the country on August 14, a day after the global launch event.
In an X-post, Google India wrote, “Out with the old. In with the fold. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, first in India”. The post shows a black colour option of the phone. Interested users can sign up for information about the arrival of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel 9 Pro from Google’s online store.
The Pixel Fold, the tech giant’s first foldable smartphone, is not yet available in India. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold 2 is expected to rival the Galaxy Z Fold 6, OnePlus Open and Tecno Phantom V Fold in India.
