Google Pixel 9 series users report wireless charging issues
The Google Pixel 9 series, featuring the company’s own Tensor G4 SoC and Titan M2 security chip, launched earlier this month at the company’s Made by Google event. Now, some buyers of the early-model Pixel 9 series — particularly the Pixel 9 Pro XL — are reporting issues with the devices’ wireless charging capabilities. Some customers have claimed that their Pixel 9 devices stopped charging wirelessly after a few minutes when using various chargers, including Google’s own wireless charger. A Reddit user claims that Google’s support team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
Customers Report Wireless Charging Issues on Pixel 9 Pro XL Units
Multiple Pixel 9 users on Reddit, Google’s support forums, and other sites report that Their phones stopped charging wirelessly after a few minutes. Several users complained that their devices exhibited “odd behavior” when charging wirelessly via the Qi2-compatible MagSafe charging puck and a Mous MagSafe case.
A Pixel 9 user has mentioned five wireless chargers that failed to deliver consistent results. According to user reports, Google’s own second-generation wireless charger for the Pixel Stand didn’t help with charging, suggesting the issue may lie with the phone and not with magnetic cases or chargers.
Most of the complaints about the platforms appear to be coming from Pixel 9 Pro XL owners, with customers saying that several failed wireless charging tests were performed without phone cases. Meanwhile, Google’s previous-generation Pixel phones reportedly functioned fine with said wireless chargers.
Google has yet to formally address the issue on these forums, but a Reddit user claims that the Google Support team is aware of the issue. The team reportedly told a Redditor that “it is a known bug that they are looking into with engineering.” Additionally, a Gold Product Expert on Google’s support forum says that the issue has been escalated to the Google team for further review and investigation.
