Google Play Store will soon be able to ask users questions about apps

The Google Play Store is reportedly getting a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature that will make it easier for users to find and learn about new apps. The feature is reportedly in development and multiple code strings about it have been found in the latest version of the marketplace. The implementation of the feature is currently unknown, but the code highlights that it could be available in the form of a chatbot. This will be the third AI feature for the market, following AI FAQs and AI review summaries.

Google Play Store is reportedly getting a new AI feature

According to a report from Android Authority, Google is working on adding an AI feature that can answer various user questions. The feature was spotted in the Google Play Store version 43.3.32-31. The app build contains several strings of code highlighting the feature, which could be called “Ask a Question.”

So far, the Play Store has one AI feature, the AI-generated FAQ. The feature automatically adds app FAQs to the app list page and users can read it for basic app information. However, it is not an interactive feature and users cannot learn about specific functionalities even if they want to.

It looks like Google is solving this problem with the ‘Ask a Question’ feature. According to the report, the publication discovered three sets of codes. The first says “Created by AI,” which emphasizes that the underdeveloped feature will be AI-powered. The second string reportedly reads, “Ask a question about this app,” while the third says, “Ask a question.”

Based on this information, it’s likely a chatbot-style feature. The publication claims that it could be available to users on both the app listing page and the app results page. Users can reportedly use it to ask any question they have about a particular app. Furthermore, it is said that the tool will also help users in app discovery and let them find the apps they want with ease.

However, these are just speculations and nothing definitive can be said about the feature. For that, we will have to wait until Google makes an official announcement about it.
