Google Workspace users can use AI features through the Gemini mobile app
The Gemini app for Android and iOS is now available to Google Workspace users, the company announced Wednesday. This allows Workspace users to access the Gemini mobile app as a core service and use it for organizational tasks. Previously, these users could only access Gemini capabilities on the web and within certain apps such as Google Docs or Gmail. The Mountain View-based tech giant emphasized that this move will enable business users to use the AI chatbot on the go.
Gemini mobile app now available for Google Workspace users
In one blog postthe company stated that with the Gemini app for Android and iOS, Workspace users can now log into the app with their organizational account and access all business features not available in the regular version of the app. In addition to using the AI chatbot to research and find answers to their questions, users can also capture images of handwritten notes with the device’s camera and export them to Google Docs or Gmail.
In addition, Google Workspace users can also create visualizations from a diagram drawn on a whiteboard while logged in to the Gemini mobile app. The tech giant said users will continue to get all the business data protection they have on the internet.
The Gemini app for Workspace accounts will be available in 150 countries and support 46 languages. However, some features available to business users on the web are not currently supported in the app. For example, users cannot use workspace extensions, file uploads, and gems.
Additionally, Work Profile is not supported in the Gemini app for Android. On the other hand, users cannot verify their Workspace account in the Google app for iOS, which also includes Gemini. To access the AI features for business purposes, users must install the standalone Gemini app.
Google is also expanding access to the Gemini app to all Education users. Those with the qualifying edition get the chatbot as a core service, and others can use it as an additional service.
