  • Google debuts an AI-driven image-to-video tool on smartphones built by the Chinese firm Honor
  • The new 400-series phones from Honor receive the Google VEO-driven tool, even before Google Pixel telephones.
  • The function produced five seconds animated videos in portrait or landscape orientation from a single image.

Google shows off a new AI image-to-video function using the VEO 2 model, but Google Pixel owners can’t just use it yet. Instead, the Chinese telephone company from Huawei, Pixel gets up to work by taking the position in the upcoming Honor 400 series smartphones.

The function still processes images directly from your photo gallery in animated five second clips. You do not need a Gemini subscription or even a cloud connection to make the videos. Honor 400 owners can feed the tool each image, whether it is a new photo, a cartoon generated by AI or even a classic painting. After about a minute you see a video of a kind of movement based on the first upload. The AI can simulate camera movements, breathe or blink topics, or otherwise spend life in the pixels.
