Google’s Pixel Screenshots app could be getting a new layout and more features
The Google Pixel 9 series was announced in August and debuted with three new apps, with Pixel Screenshots being the highlight. Not only is it an image manager, but it also uses artificial intelligence (AI) to retrieve information from saved screenshots on the device, and functions as a searchable library. A new report suggests that Google may be developing visual tweaks and more features for the app, including a new layout and the ability to select multiple images.
New features for the Pixel Screenshots app
According to an Android authority reportthe changes were discovered after an APK uninstall of version 0.24.373.08 of the Pixel Screenshots app. The app is reportedly being tested with a new homepage layout, which includes a new layout button next to the Screenshots heading. After this change, users may be able to see all their screenshots on the app’s homepage, along with a quick option to change the layout.
The report hints at the addition of a new way to select multiple images. Instead of long-pressing and tapping each screenshot individually, users can drag and drop while selecting multiple screenshots at the same time. They may also be able to rename collections in the Pixel Screenshots app.
Google is reportedly developing new shortcuts for adding images to the app, along with a host of UI changes that are said to be in development. This change allows users to quickly add screenshots to the app from the Gallery and Camera by long pressing the app icon. New ways to add, copy and send emails, or to copy and call phone numbers based on the information in screenshots, may also be in development, the report adds.
However, all the above features are not yet available to the public and are under development. Instead, only code strings containing references to it have been discovered. So it may take some time for Google to make it available to the public. Alternatively, there’s a possibility that the Mountain View-based tech giant will tweak some of them in some way, or not bring them to the Pixel Screenshots app at all.
