Greggs fan gets £25 worth of bakery treats for just £2.50
It is probably the most popular bakery in the UK.
But stocking up on sweet and savoury snacks at Greggs can be an expensive affair.
For example, one woman was delighted when she bought a £2.59 Too Good to Go bag from her local store and found it was full of £25 worth of food.
She went to TikTok to share her spoils, taking one at a time, starting with two tasty treats and a rather “sad-looking” croissant.
There were also multipack items, including four sausage rolls, four sugar donuts and two Belgian rolls.
She also got a tandoori chicken baguette, a roast chicken and bacon club baguette and a roast chicken mayonnaise baguette.
People quickly filled the comments section of her loot with comments.
“You’re doing great!” wrote a Greggs employee.
“We were only allowed to fill a bag that was worth about £6 to Greggs, so I’m sure they were keen to get rid of it!”
“You got more than you should have,” agreed another.
“You have so much more than me,” sighed a third.
“I don’t think Greggs models ever disappoint,” wrote someone else.
“You have to eat all this in one day?” asked another.
“Not necessarily! Some things last!” the woman replied.
“Of course there is an expiration date, but that really depends on how it looks/smells etc!”
“That’s the holy grail of Greggs, too good to go,” said someone else.
“Wow! Bargain!” wrote another.
Greggs in numbers
Did you know that Greggs sausage rolls consist of 96 layers of dough?
The first Greggs opened in 1951 on Gosforth High Street.
There are also 2,473 stores across the country, a thousand more than McDonald’s.
The budget deals mean Greggs is now valued at £2.6 billion.
Nearly £2 in every £100 spent in the UK hospitality industry is spent in a Greggs.
Newcastle is still the sausage roll capital of the UK, with Newcastle residents eating 17.9 million of them every year.
“I have tried this 3 times already but each time my money was refunded a few hours before pick up,” complained someone else.
And others admitted that they had had much worse catches than they had.
“The one time I did that I got two tuna baguettes,” one person wrote.
“Never again!”
“This is by far the best thing I’ve ever had!!”, she replied.
“I normally buy one doughnut and a baguette and that’s it… and it costs me £3.50…,” ranted another.
