Vietnam has a new Guinness World Record with a drone light show with 10,518 synchronized drones.
The display, which took place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 28, 2025, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the southern and national reunification.
The certified record, officially recognized by Guinness as the “largest drone light show due to the number of drones that flies at the same time.” Seems to come from a rehearsal prior to an official public event planned for April 30, which was later canceled.
Celebrate the history of Vietnam
AV Magazine Reports that Reddit users speculated that the cancellation followed public criticism on advertisements by digital payment company VNPay during a national holiday.
According to reports, removing the advertisements may have caused problems with the drone choreography, resulting in collisions and the final cancellation of another planned show on 1 May.
The setback, the rehearsal of April 28, included detailed formations that celebrate the history and development of Vietnam. The drones formed a number of images such as national emblems, historical scenes and city skylines.
The drone performance was powered by Damoda – a Chinese company that became known worldwide for its large -scale air displays – and designed in close coherence with the Vietnamese organizers of the show.
This is not Damoda’s first Guinness World Record. It previously established a record of 10,000 drone at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 2024 and has supplied drone systems for a number of other major events, including Expo 2020 Dubai.
Damoda said that his drones performed reliably during performance, despite heat and signal interference, and the company has so far been claiming more than 10,000 performance without accidents and a reliability percentage of 99.999%.
