Hair pro reveals why your hair falls out more in winter & buy £6 Boots she loves
A HAIRCARE expert has revealed why you may notice more hair loss at this time of year.
The trichologist also revealed the budget she buys for Boots to complement her locks.
In her viral videoTikTok user Abbey Yung (@abdijyung) explained the science behind hair loss.
She advised her followers not to “freak out” if they notice a lot of hair on their shower floor.
Abbey revealed that November is a peak month for hair loss in certain parts of the world.
“If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you can expect an increase in shedding in the fall,” she explained.
“This is because the percentage of hairs on our heads that are in an active growth phase peaks to about 90% in the spring and then decreases to about 80% in late fall.”
According to the expert, this decrease goes “hand in hand” with an increase in dropouts.
She told her followers that this means hair loss is “completely normal” at this time of year.
The expert said she can already feel the seasonal shedding of her own locks.
She said she “always panicked” when she noticed how much hair she lost in the winter.
However, she now understands that it is completely normal and does what she can to care for her hair.
In another clampAbbey revealed her go-to buy to help prevent hair loss.
She recommended investing in the OGX Damage Ready Coconut Miracle Oil, which is available at Boots for just £6.
The hair expert explained that she uses the buy on the lengths and ends of her hair.
She revealed that this technique is particularly effective because it is the most vulnerable part of your locks.
Abbey advised her audience to seek medical attention if they notice significant hair loss that lasts longer than three months.
