Hands-On with iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
Hands-On with iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
This is the new iPhone 16 Pro inside 16 Pro Max. Now, it’s hard to spot any differences, but there are a few key ones and let’s dive into them. Now, from the back, both of these phones look very similar to last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. But turn them over and you can start to see some differences On the right-hand side is a new button that, well, isn’t really a button. It’s a touch controller for the camera that can not only open the camera and take a photo, but can also be used to change the Zoo Zoom Switch cameras, photo styles and aperture and Portrait mode. The new controller also gets an Apple Intelligence feature called Visual Intelligence that you can press and get context for what your camera is pointing at. This feature is very similar to Google Lens. And unfortunately, I won’t be able to try it out until later this year when it comes out. The other big difference is that the displays are bigger. The 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display in roughly the same size body as the iPhone 15 Pro, which had a 6.1-inch display. The iPhone 16 Pro Max’s display is 6.9 inches compared to 6.7 inches. And last year’s 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the largest display ever on an iPhone. Yeah, I sound a bit like Apple now don’t I? In terms of color? Well, you have finishes, particularly if you’re into Titanium, you have Titanium White of course, Titanium, Black Titanium, and Desert Titanium, which is the most colorful of Titanium finishes. And that’s being very generous. And then there’s the cameras, which are exactly the same on both the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max this year, including that five-telephoto camera that replaces the three-telephoto lens on last year’s 15 Pro, the main 48MP camera gets a faster sensor. The ultra-wide is brand new with a 48MP sensor. Now compare that to the 15 Pro, which had a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and that higher-resolution ultra-wide sensor should also deliver a boost to macro photo image quality. The Pro models can now capture spatial photos and spatial audio, as well as fourK 120 frames per second. Slow-motion, which Apple introduced over the weekend by showing off a new song and a video filmed on the new iPhone 16 Pro that featured lots of slow-motion, is the driving force behind it all: a bigger battery in Apple’s new A 18 PRO chip, a faster CPU and a faster GPU, and Apple says its ray tracing is twice as fast as that of last year’s 15 Pro. Note the reflections in the water and how the lighting and highlights look in this game I’m playing here. The big boost is a bigger neural engine, called Apple Intelligence, on board for things like AI-suggested writing tools that appear in documents or emails, to photo tools including cleanup to remove unwanted people or things from an image. And a number of changes including a new voice that’s designed to sound more natural, more contextual in conversations. Siri is even getting a new interface with a glowing border around the edge of the phone when you use Siri and you don’t just have to talk to Siri. You can even double-tap the bottom of the screen so you can type to Siri instead of using your voice. Unfortunately all of these great features with Apple Intelligence won’t be coming to the phones out of the box and will be coming via a software update next month, the iPhone 16 Pro will cost $999 and the 16 Pro Max will cost $1199 and they’re both available to pre-order from September 13th and will hit stores from September 20th but that’s all I’ve got. And now I want to hear from you. What do you think of the new iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max? What feature really jumps out for you? Let me know your thoughts in the last comments. If you liked this video, give it a thumbs up and thanks for watching.
