Emergency services were called to the Whitlam Leisure Center in Liverpool, south-west Sydney, on Sunday afternoon after a boy was dragged unconscious from the children’s pool.

A member of the public made the gruesome discovery and sprang into action.

“As soon as we walked out, I saw it [sic] a baby floating on the water and me [asked my friend] “Is it a toy or a baby?” he said to TNV News.

‘He said ‘a baby’ and [my friend] I ran out to ask the lifeguard for help and I got him out of the water and everyone gathered around me.”
