‘He never listened…’: Anna Hazare reacts to Kejriwal’s ‘will quit’ decision – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Hours after the Delhi Chief Minister and MONKEY Chairman Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said he would resign within two days. Social activist Anna Hazare said “what had to be done has been done”.
Expressing disappointment over Kejriwal not following his advice, Hazare said, “I told him from the beginning that you should not enter politics, serve the people. We worked together for years and told him the same. He never listened to me and today what should have happened has happened.”
Speaking to the media from his hometown Ralegan-Siddhi, Hazare said, “I have repeatedly told Kejriwal not to enter politics. Serve society and you will become a great man. We were together for many years and during that time I often told him that social service brings happiness.”
“Increase happiness, but he did not take those words to heart. Today what had to happen happened. How would I know what was really in his heart?” he added.
The Maharashtra-based social activist, who became the face of the anti-corruption movement, revealed that he had advised the AAP leader to focus on social work instead of entering politics.
Earlier in April 2024, Hazare had criticised Kejriwal after the CM was arrested in connection with the Delhi excise case, saying it was “the consequences” of his own action.
“Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal has been arrested for his own actions,” Hazare had said, adding that it saddens him that Kejriwal, who raised his voice against alcohol while working with him, is now “taking to the streets”. beverage policy“.
