Heartbreaking for Alex de Minaur as Katie Boulter’s tennis star boyfriend is brutally kicked out of the Olympics
- Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyr are out of the Olympic Games
- Australian pair lost their first round of men’s doubles
- De Minaur had to withdraw from the men’s singles
Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin have been eliminated from the Olympic Games after losing their first-round match in three sets.
De Minaur had to withdraw from the men’s singles due to the hip injury that forced him to withdraw from Wimbledon earlier this month. He did, however, make himself available for the doubles tournament, along with his childhood friend Popyrin.
However, the Australian duo were brutally defeated by American rivals Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram, who won the match at Roland Garros 6-2, 6-4.
That means that both De Minaur and his tennis star girlfriend Katie Boulter will not be in action in Paris this summer. The British player lost in the first round of the women’s singles in straight sets to Anna Karolína Schmiedlová from Slovakia.
More to follow.
