Redmi Confirms August 3 Launch Event, Redmi K60 Ultra With Dimensity 9000+ SoC Surfaces on Geekbench

Redmi launched its K60 series of smartphones in December 2022. The series consisted of the Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro, and Redmi K60E models. All three models featured a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The base and Pro devices were powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series chipsets while the Redmi K60E was backed by a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. The Chinese smartphone manufacturing company is said to be working on expanding the K60 smartphone lineup. A recent report suggested that a Redmi K60 Ultra could be launched soon and it also leaked a few specifications details.

On a Weibo afterReliable tipster Digital Chat Station has suggested that Redmi will launch the K60 Ultra device in the third quarter of the year, i.e. in July, August or September. The leakster added that the smartphone is expected to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset and could support 100W fast charging. Both the alleged features, if true, will be a significant improvement over the high-end Redmi K60 Pro.

The Redmi K60 Pro smartphone comes in Black, White, Mint and Champion Black colour options and is priced at CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs. 40,000) for the base model with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and CNY 4,599 (approximately Rs. 55,000) for the 16GB RAM + 512GB storage variant. It is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and supports 67W wired fast charging.

The Redmi K60 Ultra device is expected to arrive as the successor to the K50 Ultra handset that was launched in August 2022. The model will be offered in four storage configurations and is priced starting at CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 35,400). It will be available in Black, Blue, and Silver color options.

The Redmi K50 Ultra features a 6.7-inch 12-bit OLED display, runs Android 12-based MIUI 13, and is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, along with LPPDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The triple camera setup on the rear is led by a 108-megapixel primary camera, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens. It also has a 20-megapixel selfie camera that is housed in a center-aligned punch-hole cutout at the top of the display. The Redmi K50 Ultra device houses a 5,000mAh battery and supports 120W fast charging.
