NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Police have issued a circular against Mihir Shah, who is wanted in the hit-and-run case that left a woman dead in Mumbai’s Worli on Sunday. The police have also formed six teams to search for the accused, with a special focus on airports to ensure that he does not flee abroad.
Police have already arrested Shah’s father Rajesh Shah, leader of the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena. The driver, Rajendra Singh, who was in the car at the time of the accident, has also been arrested.
The victim, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa (45), was traveling with her husband Pradip from Sassoon Dock in Colaba to their home in Worli Koliwada when the incident took place around 5.30 am.
The impact was so violent that Kaveri was thrown onto the hood of the car and the driver fled after driving for another 100 meters.
Speaking of the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that the law is equal for all and that the police will not protect anyone in this case. Asked if the man involved in the Mumbai accident was the son of a Shiv Sena leader, the CM said only, “The law is equal for all and the government sees every case in the same way. There will be no separate rule for this accident. Everything will be done according to law.”
