HMD could be working on a phone inspired by this popular Nokia Lumia handset
HMD launched the HMD Skyline phone with a Nokia Lumia 920-inspired design earlier this year. It comes with a 6.55-inch 144Hz pOLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, and a 108-megapixel triple rear camera unit. A recent report suggested that the company is expected to soon unveil a new smartphone that draws inspiration from the design of another Nokia Lumia handset, namely the Nokia Lumia 1020. The name of this rumoured smartphone is not known yet. However, a leaked render has hinted at the expected design elements of the alleged phone.
Nokia Lumia 1020-inspired HMD smartphone: What we know
A report by HMD News claims that Finnish OEM HMD (Human Mobile Devices) is working on a smartphone that will reportedly draw inspiration from Nokia’s Lumia 1020 flagship that was launched in 2013. The publication has shared a design render of this alleged HMD handset. It appears to feature a similar box-like construction as the HMD Skyline.
However, the rumoured HMD smartphone is seen sporting a centre-aligned circular camera module on the back instead of the rectangular island that we see on the HMD Skyline. This circular camera unit is reminiscent of the older Nokia Lumia 1020. The module appears to feature five smaller slots that are designed to house four cameras and a single LED flash.
Featuring support for optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 41-megapixel primary camera sensor on the back, the Nokia Lumia 1020 was a popular choice for camera enthusiasts back then. The HMD handset inspired by the Lumia 1020 could also be a camera-focused phone.
The report adds that the Lumia 1020-inspired HMD handset could potentially arrive in a similar bright yellow option as the older Nokia model. The name of the HMD smartphone is not yet known, however. No other specs have also surfaced online, but we can expect more details about the rumoured handset to surface in the coming months.
