HMD’s first smartphone in India could be unveiled on this date
HMD Arrow has been in the rumor mill for a while now. The Finnish brand was gearing up to launch the device under its own brand in India. Now, HMD has officially confirmed that the handset will be unveiled with a different name. While HMD is still tight-lipped on the launch timeline, rumors suggest that it will be unveiled on July 25. The upcoming smartphone could debut as a rebranded HMD Pulse which has been available in Europe since April.
HMD Arrow name removed
By his social media accountsHMD revealed that it has chosen the “Arrow” name for its upcoming smartphone, but legal reasons are preventing the brand from using the name. It confirmed that the phone’s final name will be revealed in the next few days.
HMD has selected the name Arrow for its upcoming phone based on a user contest on X. The brand has clarified that the contest entries are still valid and the winners will receive their prizes soon.
While the launch date of the new HMD phone is still a mystery, 91Mobiles has report hints that the company is planning to host an event in India on July 25 to launch its first smartphone. The alleged phone could offer 5G connectivity.
HMD’s first phone in India: What we know so far
HMD’s upcoming offering could be a rebranded HMD Pulse. The latter was launched in Europe in April this year with a price tag of EUR 140 (roughly Rs. 12,460). It will be sold in Atmos Blue, Dreamy Pink and Meteor Black colour options.
The Pulse runs Android 14 out of the box and features a 6.65-inch HD+ (720×1,612 pixels) LCD display with 600 nits peak brightness and a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by an octa-core 12nm Unisoc T606 chip. It has a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. The phone houses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and comes with up to 128GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded up to 256GB. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging.
