The nice metal standing street sign with winter charm gives directions to Santa’s workshop, the elf village and the reindeer stables and looks perfect both indoors and outdoors.

The freestanding decoration originally cost £6.99 in Home Bargains, but was reduced to just £2.99.

And baffled shoppers just discovered why.

After picking it up from her local shop, mum Jodie asked: “CAN YOU SEE THE MISTAKE? House Bargains, Forfar, Scotland.”

She added: “Warning: many people may be disappointed. My partner is now looking for a way to solve the problem.

“It never said it was on sale or anything else that was just priced the same as every other thing with a plastic price tag on the front door. There was no discount to clear or any indication that anything was wrong.

‘He goes into the garden, where no one notices.

“I just thought it was cheap because it was a house bargain.”

The post, shared on the popular Bargain lovers Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range group with 400,000 members has since amassed more than 350 likes and hundreds of comments.

And it turns out that many people were unaware of the spelling mistake, even though many already had the decoration hanging in their home.

Primark shoppers are rushing to buy Christmas duvet sets that will keep you warm at night without heating and people are saying it’s the ‘cutest collection they’ve ever made’

The top plate on the metal signpost should read: “Welcome to the North Pole.”

But the ‘e’ is missing from ‘de’, so it reads: “Welcome to the North Pole.”

One stunned Christmas fan said: “I got this [and] I didn’t even notice, I’m off to check.”

Moments later she added: “The letter is missing, it’s been outside for over a week and I didn’t even notice. I was elated and thought, wow, I got a bargain.”

“Ours too…haven’t noticed it at all until now,” echoed a second.

A third chimed in: “Hahaha I didn’t even notice the mistake lol. I know now oh that would drive me crazy lol.”

Someone else added: “Omg mine is the same. It’s been in my kitchen for four days and I never noticed.”

Meanwhile, a fifth wrote: “Ours is exactly the same, as is my daughter’s, we have ours in Chester, UK.”

However, many buyers have insisted that the flaw is so difficult to spot that it is still worth buying.

One person said: “Think I’ll leave it up, no one will notice until I point it out. At least we didn’t haha.”

“Ours is the same, but for the price I’m not too worried,” admitted another.

A third joked: “I bought this board, thought I’d found a good bargain… took my 8 year old to tell me what was wrong with it as soon as I got it home.”

“I had to read this over 20 times and then it clicked,” a fourth admitted.

A fifth echoed: ‘It took me way too long to see what was wrong with it.’

And another savvy bargain hunter said: “Mine is the same. I just used a red marker and drew an E haha.”
