Home Depot’s 12-foot-long skeleton adds a canine friend to its creepy universe
In 2020, Home Depot unleashed a 12-foot skeleton named Skelly in 2020, and he’s been releasing regular additions to the creepy family ever since. This year, you can give your Skelly creepy, morphing eyes, plus adopt a pet for the big guy. Maybe it’s a bloodhound?
Skelly is back, of course, for $299. But now you can customize his LED eyes with eight different variations, including hearts for Valentine’s Day. Home Depot knows that many people won’t put their giant Skellys up after Halloween, and will simply decorate them appropriately when other holidays roll around. If you already own Skelly, you can buy the eye add-ons for $30.
In addition to the heart eyes, the upgrade will give your Skelly classic blue, hazelnut eyes, exploding fireworks, stars, flames, “hypno-spiral” eyes, and dragon eyes. You can also pay $379 for “servo Skelly” (sorry, Mystery Science Theater fans, no relation to Tom Servo). Servo Skelly is animated by motors, costs $379, and is not available in stores — you have to buy it online . There is also a limited edition servo motor pack to give your own Skelly some head movement.
Skelly now has a canine companion. A 7-foot skeleton dog is available for $199.
I got the creeps from what Home Depot is Inferno Deadwood Skeletona 12-foot-tall relative of Skelly with flames in his ribcage and skull.
In 2023, Home Depot released a 13-foot Jack Skellington, from Disney’s The Nightmare Before Christmas film. Jack is back this year. Other decor options include a 12-foot Levitating Reaper for $300 (he appears to float), a 7-foot Plague Doctor for $199, a headless knight on a black horse for $379, and a 7-foot pirate for $250.
The products are expected to be in Home Depot stores starting Labor Day, September 2 this year, but they are expected to for sale online starting July 18th. They may sell out, so if you’re interested, get there early — and we mean really early, around 5am ET.
