Horrifying moment when a woman falls four floors to her death in a shopping center after sitting on a moving escalator handrail

A woman fell four floors after trying to sit on a moving escalator handrail.
Just before the horrific accident, the young woman could be seen reading something while standing dangerously close to an escalator in a Chinese shopping center.
Gruesome CCTV footage of the incident shows the woman – who has not been named – leaning against the escalator before trying to sit on the moving handrail.
Almost immediately she loses her balance as the escalator begins to drag her down.
The woman desperately tries to grab the railing as she suddenly falls through a small gap between the stairs and the railing.
People nearby, seemingly unaware of what is happening right next to them, react too late to save the woman.
Local media report that she fell four stories and died as a result of the impact.

The devastating incident took place on the evening of November 16 at Wanxianghui, a major shopping center in Jining, China.
Just ten days before the tragedy, the building had undergone a security check.
The entire site was inspected, including tests on safety exits and evacuation channel settings.
Due to the accident, local residents of the area are questioning the safety measures at the mall.
