The body of one homeless Guy has been found on the inside An industrial container behind a shop of the Salvation Army.

The police were called to the building in the suburb of Bellerive of Hobart on Monday morning after a waste contractor had made the grim discovery.

Since then, detectives have identified the deceased man, 45, and try to find out his movements since Saturday evening, when he was last seen alive.

Police and forensic officers spent many Monday on the spot on Percy Street.

At least 60 people were interviewed by the police as part of their current investigations.

The container was at the back of the store, an area that was visited by homeless people.

“The waste contractor attended the business community as he would normally do,” Detective Inspector David Gill told reporters.

“He actually lifted the lids on a number of large bins and found the male.

“This was a large waste bin of industrial waste and the contractor saw what he initially thought was a mannequin display.”

The man was last seen alive by his children at around 7 p.m. Saturday night.

The police confirmed that the man was known to them and had been homeless for at least a few months.

It was known that the man visited the Bellerive and Rosny areas.

How the man died remains a mystery.

His body was found without physical injury.

It is hoped that an autopsy will give some answers on Tuesday.

“At the moment the scene suggests that this can be a case of death due to incorrect, or alternative, cheat or possibly a combination of both,” said the Insp Gill said
