A two-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in a school parking lot.
The horror incident happened at Durack State School, on Inala Avenue, in Brisbane’s south-west, around 3.30pm on Thursday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the boy suffered serious injuries, but despite the efforts of paramedics he could not be saved.
Queensland Police said in a statement they are at the scene and investigating the incident.
“An investigation has been initiated and a woman is assisting police with their investigation,” the statement said.
A corona van arrived at the school at 6:22 p.m Courier mail reports.
Parents of students may pick up their children outside opening hours.

The tragedy happened at Durack State School (pictured) on Inala Avenue in Brisbane’s south-west about 3.30pm on Thursday.
The Forensic Crash Unit is currently on scene. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
Footage from the scene showed several police vehicles and an ambulance parked on the school grounds.
A woman was seen being comforted by another woman next to the ambulance vehicle.
Durack State School opened in 1960 as Serviceton State School before being renamed in 2001.
The school is known for its multiculturalism among students, who speak many languages.
