Two people have been killed in horrific highway accidents on the outskirts of Sydney when a super storm ravaged the city, including a terrifying collision involving three trucks and multiple cars.

The multi-vehicle accident occurred around 3pm on Pheasants Nest Bridge on Hume Motorway near Wilton, south Sydney, causing significant delays to traffic in both directions.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked to free several drivers trapped in their vehicles in the massive impact.

Several drivers were checked by paramedics at the scene and one driver died from his injuries on the spot.

NSW Police confirmed that ‘up to 10 vehicles’ were involved in the ‘serious collision’.

“At this point, one person has been confirmed to have died and emergency services are assessing a number of other patients,” the NSW Police Department confirmed.

“There are several road closures and diversions have been put in place around the crash site. Expect significant delays.’

NSW Ambulance Service confirmed that four people were assessed at the scene.

It confirmed that two patients had been taken to Campbelltown Hospital and one to Liverpool Hospital.

All north and south lanes were closed as police and emergency services tended to riot motorists.

Earlier, another man died when his motorcycle went off the road and crashed into a tree on Creek Ridge Road, Glossodia in Sydney’s northwest.

“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the rider – believed to be in his 40s – died at the scene,” the NSW police said.

Neither fatality has been identified.
