Housemates make shocking claim after newborn baby reportedly left in carport in Dandenong near Melbourne
A newborn baby is fighting for his life after he was found abandoned under a carport in Melbourne’s south-east just hours after birth.
According to police, the boy was found outside his home on Gladstone Rd in Dandenong North at around 2.40am on Friday.
The child’s mother, a 25-year-old woman, was taken to hospital, where she remained under police guard, according to officers.
Housemates of the 25-year-old woman told Nine News on Friday morning they did not know she was pregnant.
“We just woke up and there was an incident and we had to call Triple-0, and they came and helped us,” they said
‘We are glad that the baby is doing well and we continue to pray for her and the baby.
“We are ready to support her as soon as she gets out of the hospital.”
The roommate told Nine that the new mother was a sweet woman who worked in elderly care.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
