How colleges bridge the gap between education and industry
Colleges are integrating industry-relevant skills into their programs to prepare students for evolving job markets. Many institutions combine practical applications with theoretical learning, offer project-based programs, internshipsand industrial exposure in areas such as engineering and pharmaceuticals.
“Educational institutions are shifting from traditional, theory-intensive curricula to focusing on employee readiness,” said Amit Sharma, chairman of the Amritsar Group of Colleges (AGC). “Events such as cultural and technical festivals provide platforms for students to develop diverse skills and practical experience,” he said, adding AGC also includes extra-curricular activities such as cultural and technical events to promote holistic development,” he added.
Graduates of such programs often get placements in various companies such as TCS and Microsoft. “These efforts are aimed at aligning education with industry trends and equipping students for current and future challenges,” said Director of AGC, Dr. Gaurav Tejpal, who also said that thanks to NAAC’s ‘A’- accreditation, continues to align its programs with industry trends.
