But there’s more to the pose than meets the eye.
Body language expert Judi James believes that the “instantly upstaging trick” is seen as a status symbol.
She says: “You will find that the squeezing motion improves the appearance of the breasts, making them look fuller, firmer and rounder, with a deeper cleavage.
“The deeper the cleavage, the more intense the imitation of the real sexual arousal feature, the butt.
“In body language terms, it is traditionally a teasing, provocative display aimed at arousing sexual interest and admiration.
“As a flirtatious act of self-touch, it can imply or be read as an unsubtle ‘your hands here’ message, such as stroking legs or touching lips to get the man to imagine what that act might feel like.
“But there are many more current implications for breast squeezing.
“For a true A-star, the message is more ironic: ‘I got here through talent, not because of it!’
“Or it could be a quasi-aggressive power move, as in ‘They’re mine!’ You can look, but you can never touch!’
“Breast squeezing can also be seen as the new status symbol.
“Many celebrities have paid good money to have their breasts enlarged, and showing off the expensive, high-end work can be as symbolic as showing off a designer watch or handbag.”

The 32-year-old rapper adapted the pose as she celebrated her birthday this year.
She took to Instagram to reveal she was wearing her ‘tiny little’ dress after having to change because her old outfit didn’t have ‘enough fabric’.

Judi says: “Cate is a quality actor with no history of overt sexual signaling to get attention.
“This ‘spontaneous’ breast grab looks more like a protection ritual than an enhancement or show-off of the breasts.
‘Her jacket looks very low cut at the front and this may have been an instinctive concealment to check she wasn’t flashing at the cameras.
“It’s an intellectual tease, though, as she still draws attention to her cleavage even though she pretends to hide it here.”

And it looks like the 66-year-old singer had her hands full with this photo.
Judi says: “Madonna’s cupping pose with both hands is shot from above, making her look accommodating, suggestive and as if she is advertising her sexuality to the viewer.
“Because it’s Madonna doing the pose, even though it’s ironic, ‘fake’ advertising from one of the most unapproachable, unattainable women in the world.
“Her pose suggests she’s seducing us, but the looks are all part of the A-list brand and designed to shock rather than actually flirt.”

She’s a mother of two and a self-made billionaire, so it’s no surprise that she might not always be ready for a completely made-up Instagram photo.

“The fingers are spread to create a ‘prison bars’ feature and the long claws are extended like cat claws to suggest ‘This girl might bite’.”

This American singer and TikTok sensation, Addison Rae is also grabbing onto the trend.
The 24-year-old showed off her enviable abs by giving herself a lift.
“This is a complex breast-squeezing ritual in which the hands grip the ribs under the breasts while the breasts themselves are squeezed with what appears to be adhesive tape,” says Judi.
“The tape looks flattening and restrictive, like a nipple blindfold, and the hands look awkward, more like a change of direction gesture than a sign of any pleasure.
“The way her head is tilted back suggests a desire to present this as a sexual flirting ritual, but it’s a look that could probably be called niche.”

Helen Flanagan is never one to shy away from embracing her skin for a photo.
The mother of three matched the striking pose and modeled a fierce one pink bikini.
Judi says: “Helen keeps her breasts center stage here, pointing them straight at the camera and at the same time pretending to do a bit of window dressing by raising her hands in what appears to be rituals of adjustment to her pink bikini.
“Her head tilt is a questioning gesture and her smile suggests purity proud with her couple here.
“She shows that she doesn’t have to pinch or cup these beauties, they look perfect without any enhancement, her hands just point the viewer towards them.”
How to pose like a celebrity
Body positive influencer Tally sharp has revealed how to perfect a celebrity-inspired pose.
Form
The perfect photo contains SHAPE and use your body or an outfit to accentuate this.
Bikinis and lingerie work well for these photos, and it’s best to use them as props; these will also help define your shape.
Grab your bikini and do a hip raise, or adjust the side of your bikini while gently shaping your face with the other hand, or grab the hair on either side of your head as if it were a natural sweeping motion.
Then put one leg in front of the other. It’s about diversity in the image.

Know which angels you like. It’s so funny when I meet someone who follows me Instagram they always say: ‘You’re so much smaller in real life, I thought you were tall!’
This always makes me laugh because the angle I use is hip height, slightly upward, which lengthens the image, making me look taller.
So learn with a friend which angles you like, and once you find them, it will become a lot easier.

One thing I strive for is that if it doesn’t work and we don’t get the right shot: sit down or change the background.
