How to Get a Smooth Bikini Line and Exactly How Often You Should Shave Each Week
How often you should shave is still a hotly debated topic, but a professional waxer has now shared five tips to help you achieve a smooth bikini line this summer.
While some beach babes have said goodbye to their razors, others prefer a smoother look down there. If you’re one of them, read on.
Now that temperatures are finally rising and Brits are able to enjoy the sunshine, many of us are asking the same thing: how do you prevent razor burn and ingrown hairs?
Luckily, a professional waxer came to your rescue just in time, sharing her top tips and tricks for a super-smooth bikini line.
According to the whizz, @thebrazilianwascohaving been in the industry for a decade, there are a few things to keep in mind when picking up your razor.
Preparation is key
It’s all about preparation, stressed Halifax-based guru Your Hairy Fairy Godmother.
The key to preventing bumps, lumps, irritation and redness is exfoliation. Remove dry skin with your favorite scrub or other methods.
Stop shaving every day
While many of us shave daily, or at least a few times a week, the guru advises keeping it to a minimum.
“My honest advice would be to let the hair grow out quite long and then shave it off,” she explained to her TikTok followers.
“Make it a habit to shave once a week instead of this daily nonsense.”
The blonde beauty, who has more than 75,000 fans on her page, says that when the skin is exposed to shaving on a daily basis, it becomes irritated and ”angry”.
Replace your razor blades
On the high street you will find many different razors that all promise to create the ultimate bikini line. But how do you know which one to choose?
According to the expert, it is best to opt for razors with only two blades. The more blades there are, the greater the chance of painful skin irritation, she warned in the video.
”Buy a simple men’s razor with two blades.”
A direction
The first time you shave, the shaving head prompted you to stop moving up and instead move the razor down.
When you’re done, move from left to right and then up to remove any remaining hairs.
This simple change will leave your skin feeling ‘much smoother’ – and you’ll also experience less irritation and discomfort.
Avoid blunt knives
When was the last time you replaced your razor? If it’s been a hot minute, you can throw out the old razor and replace it with a new one.
She noted that ideally, beauty enthusiasts should change their razor every other shave and sometimes even go months without using one.
“The razors are going to harbor bacteria, which will cause redness, pain, irritation — that kind of thing,” she warned, adding that you should keep this essential product outside of the shower, too.
