How to get PAID to move to one of the most beautiful regions in the world: Tuscany is offering £25,000 to people if they move there

Forget paying for a holiday in Tuscany – now you can paid because I enjoy life there.

Tuscany’s regional authorities have announced they will pay people up to £25,000 (€30,000/$32,000) to move to mountain villages.

The new Residency in the Mountains programme (Residenzialita in Montagna) offers people grants of €10,000 to €30,000 (£8,470 – £25,000) to cover the costs of purchasing and renovating a home.

Tuscany has allocated a total of €2.8 million (£2.3 million) to the programme to encourage people to move to towns in the region where the population is shrinking.

According to the program website: ‘The aim of the intervention is to promote and encourage the repopulation and socio-economic revitalization of mountain areas, thus contrasting with the marginalization of these areas.’

But are there any caveats? First, the location – it only applies to houses in mountain villages with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.

Although there 76 to choose from of, according to 2022 population data published by regional authorities.

Examples include the spa town of San Casciana dei Bagni, famous for its thermal baths, Santa Fiora, famous for its thermal springs, and Caprese Michelangelo, the birthplace of the Renaissance artist Michelangelo.

Another rule states that the financial contribution received may not exceed 50 percent of the costs of the home and its renovation.

Applicants must be of legal age and Italian, EU or non-EU citizens with a residence permit valid for at least ten years.

They must also be registered as a resident of an Italian town or village that is not a mountain municipality.

Finally, successful applicants must ensure that the Tuscan property will become their permanent residence.

Applications can be submitted at the Website of the Tuscany region and must be submitted no later than 1:00 p.m. (CET) on July 27.
