How to Watch Disney D23 Live in Fortnite and Get a Wolverine Item
Disney’s D23 is the largest fan event that Disney holds each year, promising a series of announcements for upcoming films and other properties, while fans can enjoy things like cosplay, contests, panels, and other presentations. This year, it will take place from August 9-11 in Anaheim, California, near Disneyland. One of the most unique parts of this year’s event is the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, which will be streamed exclusively on Fortnite.
We won’t bury the lede here. To watch the stream in Fortnite, all you need to do is follow these three steps:
- Log into Fortnite on August 10 at 10:30pm ET.
- Find the Disney Horizons Live from D23 island on the Discover bar. You can also reach the island using the island code: 7908-6413-2516.
- Head to the island to watch the event, which starts at 11:30 p.m. ET.
That’s all you need to do. The event will begin streaming at the appointed time, whether you’re there or not. If you miss the live presentation, you can still watch the event, as it will be streaming in a loop until August 16th.
Players who stay on the island for at least 10 minutes during the D23 event will also receive the Peelverine Plush Back Bling, which is Wolverine mixed with a banana. Epic Games says the item is not exclusive to the event and will be available for sale in the in-game store later. The game will also reward XP for watching. Rewards will begin rolling out on August 16 after the island closes.
What is Disney Horizons Live?
According to Epic GamesThe Disney Horizons Live event will showcase upcoming collaborations between Fortnite and Disney. This could mean anything from new game modes, skins inspired by Disney characters, additional cosmetics, and more. We won’t know the exact details until the event happens.
Disney and Epic Games a partnership announced back in February, when Disney pledged to invest $1.5 billion in Epic Games to acquire “an equity stake” in the company. At the time, Disney said this would allow Fortnite players to become more involved with Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and other Disney properties.
“Epic Games’ industry-leading technology and Fortnite’s open ecosystem help us reach consumers wherever they are, so they can engage with Disney in the way that’s most relevant to them,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of Disney Experiences.
Disney and Epic Games have both been quiet since the announcement, with nothing yet to come of the partnership. Given that D’Amaro is the one hosting the Horizons livestream, we’re going to take a chance and bet that this will be our first glimpse of what the Disney x Epic Games collaboration has to offer Fortnite players.
