Huawei Mate XT Ultimate design reportedly coming globally soon

Huawei undoubtedly shocked the world with the launch of its first production-ready triple-pack smartphone in September. Shortly after, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design also went on sale, but it almost seemed like Huawei couldn’t keep up with the demand as some walk-in customers were unable to purchase a unit. However, customers who had pre-ordered the device did receive their units as promised. So it’s a little strange that Huawei has now reportedly announced that it is ready to roll out its triple-pack smartphone globally for customers willing to pay the hefty price tag.

As told to GSMArenaHuawei will be bringing its first triple-fold device to more markets globally. While Huawei has not yet confirmed how it plans to do that (as its products are banned in certain markets), it has confirmed that the foldable device will launch globally in Q1 2025, the report said.

The first quarter of 2025 is not far away and it remains to be seen how Huawei will meet demand as the company appears to be struggling to get the Mate XT on shelves in China.

Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design Price

Foldable phones have always been more expensive than usual (even when compared to Apple’s iPhone models), but the China-only Mate XT Ultimate Design takes things up a notch.

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is definitely one of the most expensive production smartphones in the world at CNY 19,999 (approximately Rs. 2,36,700) and that’s only for the base model that comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There are also high-end models with more storage that go up to CNY 23,999 (approximately Rs. 2,83,900), an eye-watering price tag for a smartphone.

Huawei Mate XT Ultimate design specifications

Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design foldable can be unfolded into a 10.2-inch tablet-sized device or folded back into a regular smartphone with a 6.4-inch display when not in use. The tri-fold can also be transformed into a regular foldable with a 7.9-inch double fold. All this while maintaining a thickness of 12.8mm, the same thickness as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 (12.1mm). However, the phone weighs in at 298g, which is heavy for a foldable phone but lighter than most tablets.

Apart from the design, Huawei has its own Kirin 9010 SoC powering this triple-camera phone. There are three cameras on the back – a 50-megapixel primary, a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto (5.5x optical zoom) and another 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Selfies are handled by a single 8-megapixel camera, which is built into the first bezel of the foldable main display.

The foldable phone is powered by a 5,600mAh battery and supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, with both charging methods requiring Huawei’s own chargers. The phone also supports 7.5W reverse wireless charging for charging accessories and is currently available in red and black with vegan leather back panels.
