Huawei Nova Flip launch scheduled for next week; design announced

Huawei has just announced the launch date for its long-awaited Nova Flip clamshell foldable in China. The Chinese tech brand has posted multiple images and a teaser video that give us a good idea of ​​what to expect when the new foldable phone is unveiled. The Huawei Nova Flip appears to feature a small square-shaped external display and dual cameras on the back. It comes in four color options. Alongside the Nova Flip, Huawei is also expected to launch new tablets and laptops.

Huawei has announced via Weibo announced that the Nova Flip will be launched in China on August 5 at 7:00 PM (4:30 PM IST). The device will come with HarmonyOS software and is said to be the first flip phone in the Nova series.

Huawei Nova Flip design announced

In a teaser video and images posted on the Chinese microblogging platform, Huawei has revealed the first look at the Nova Flip smartphone. The teaser video shows the green color variant of the flip-style foldable phone that features a flat display and thin bezels. The foldable phone features a square-shaped external display, which is a departure from the circular design seen on the Pocket series smartphones. The phone is being promoted by Jackson Yee, a member of Chinese music group TFBoys.

Huawei Nova Flip is seen with dual vertically aligned cameras at the top-left corner of the cover display. The main display has a hole punch to house the front-facing camera while the power button is likely to double as a fingerprint scanner. The SIM slot seems to be at the bottom. It is confirmed to come in at least three colors – black, pink, and white. The handset appears to have a metal frame.

In addition to the Nova Flip, Huawei is also expected to introduce the MateBook GT 14, MatePad Pro 12.2 and more on August 5. The phone will likely be considerably more affordable than Huawei’s Pocket series.
