I accidentally mowed a few inches of my neighbor’s lawn so he “made a point”
A homeowner recounted the unintentional argument she started with her neighbor after mowing part of his lawn.
She told how violently the neighbor reacted after she accidentally misjudged the property boundary.
In her afterReddit user PogoChop explained the awkward situation with her neighbors due to their adjacent yards.
She showed a photo of the communal lawn, which showed no clear boundary line.
After the poster accidentally mowed part of her neighbor’s lawn, he quickly responded.

“[My] neighbour [is] “He wasn’t happy that we had mowed a strip in his lawn, so he decided to spray grass killer on it to make his point,” she explained.
The man had drawn the killer in broken lines to create a visible boundary between the two gardens.
The discolored and dead grass line was clearly visible in the photo.
The Reddit user indicated that the passive-aggressive situation prompted her and her partner to move.
“We want to sell the house soon, so it doesn’t look good to potential buyers,” she said.
She added that she would “consider” asking him to pay for the damage to the grass.
Reddit users shared their thoughts on the situation in the comments.
“It would be wonderful karma if the investigation revealed that the piece of land the original poster mowed was actually his,” one person wrote.
“You can come and mow my entire yard whenever you want,” joked another reader.
“My wife and I moved to the suburbs and our neighbors on both sides are obsessed with their lawns,” a third Redditor shared.
“The first week after we moved in, one of the neighbors told me that a tree that was clearly on my property was actually his.”
Top 5 Reasons Why Neighbors Fight
A survey by Compare the Market revealed the top reason why British neighbours argue
- Broken Fences – At the top of the board were broken fences and who was responsible for fixing them?
- Parking: One of the leading causes of neighborhood disputes, with 54.1 percent of people having problems with people parking in front of their home, parking space or driveway
- Trees – complaints about a neighbour’s tree damaging your garden path were also common, with almost half of respondents finding this frustrating.
- Trash Can Wars – Outdoor trash can etiquette continues to spark some of the most heated debates between neighbors
- Nosy neighbors – some people have their eyes and ears ready to take a peek and cause problems for others
The Reddit user described the behavior as “childish on another level.”
“Leave a 1-inch border of uncut grass at the edge of the border so the grass can eventually grow taller,” someone else suggested.
“From now on, mow a few inches inside that line and let it grow into a long, unkempt strip,” agreed a second commenter.
“When he gets tired of it, he’ll have to mow your side and then you can make him a hypocrite.”
“Think about it, that person has so little to do in their life that they choose to invest time and energy into this. Some people are sad individuals,” one reader noted.
