Redditor Peptidewitch shared her treatment for when her skin dries out due to bad weather.

“I do what I call cyclical/seasonal skin care,” she said.

“I adjust when I feel the climate is affecting my skin. I live in Canada, so I feel a lot of change!” she added.

The lack of sunlight left her severely deficient in vitamin D, which she said “affects you in so many ways.”

To cope with this deficiency, she makes sure she gets vitamin D every day.

She had become accustomed to changing her routine as soon as she felt the first signs of a cold.

“The air is getting colder and windier, so I’m applying more layers of toner,” she said.

“I use the Some By Mi Honey Propolis Toner and the Laneige ceramide toner in layers.”

She gave a detailed breakdown of her fall routine.

“I still layer essences and serums when needed, but instead of one eye serum, I now layer both eye serum and eye cream,” she says.

I used to spend a lot of money on Sephora skincare products – my swaps are better for my skin and wallet, they’re all $25 or less (1)

“Lastly, my gel moisturizer is no longer sufficient, so I apply that under a thicker ceramide cream or I add argan oil to the ceramide cream,” she added.

If you want to try out her techniques for yourself, Some By Mi Propolis B5 Glow Barrier Calming Toner is currently on sale on Amazon for $15.80.

Laneige Cream Skin Refillable Toner and Moisturizer with Ceramides and Peptides is available at Sephora for $36.

She constantly reminds herself to remain ‘patient’ as her skin goes through the seasonal changes, figuring that it will soon ‘flatten out’ and adjust to the drier temperatures.

She said she no longer needs layers once her skin is back in ‘balance’.

“Eventually my skin calms down and isn’t as dramatic about the cold. Only if I’ve been outside for a while, so I add an extra layer if I’m not using a sheet mask,” she said.

Others shared their own methods for combating the cold.

“I take an oil spray supplement! The vitamin D is in the oil and you spray it in your mouth. Easy,” one user said.

“Hyaluronic acid doesn’t work very well for me, but glycerin with an oil on top works very well for me,” said another.

“In spring and summer I use Etude House Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream. In fall and winter I switch to the 2x Barrier Cream,” said a third.

“Everything is the same. I just adapt to the seasons by changing my moisturizer,” they added.
