I am a dog trainer and there are 3 breeds that are not suitable for city lovers
A dog trainer has revealed there are three dogs he wouldn’t recommend to first-time dog owners, aka ‘city lovers’.
Speaking on behalf of dog behavior experts @cherryhoggstold the trainer that some popular breeds are not suitable for pet owners who are inexperienced.
Shepherds
Via TikTok, the trainer revealed that dogs like German Shepherds and Australian Shepherds are herding breeds and need a lot of exercise and stimulation.
“If you don’t take care of the workload, you’re going to have behavioral problems.”
The trainer pointed out that German Shepherds are used as police dogs and said that if you’re not going to work them as hard as a police dog, then you shouldn’t have one.
Dogs
The dog expert revealed that no type of dog is suitable for first-time owners.
‘They’re high energyit is all about the nose and must be worked instinctively,” he said.
The trainer revealed that if you don’t live on a farm or have a large piece of land, the dogs will have behavioral problems.
Pit bulls
The trainer said Pit Bulls are an obvious choice, and the breed is effectively banned in Britain.
“They are very aggressive when they are not trained and when they have so much energy,” he said.
“They can be the nicest dog in the world, but if you don’t provide the right kind of discipline, exercise and pack leadership, they’re going to tear you apart.”
The video has probably struck a chord with many people as it has already been viewed over 550,000 times on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users rushed to the comments section of the video to share their thoughts, with some disagreeing with the trainer.
One person said: “My greyhound just sleeps all the time!”
A second person said: “My Australian Shepherd is the biggest cuddly toy, she cuddles more than any other dog I’ve ever owned.
